Overview

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team is a British motor racing team based in Silverstone, England, that competes in the FIA Formula One World Championship. Representing the iconic Aston Martin brand, the team focuses on elite-level vehicle engineering and aerodynamic innovation to challenge for world titles in the pinnacle of motorsport.

History

The team's lineage traces back to the 1991 entry of Jordan Grand Prix, founded by Eddie Jordan. Operating from a base at Silverstone, the team became a respected midfield competitor under various owners, including stints as Midland (2006), Spyker (2007), and Force India (2008–2018). In 2018, a consortium led by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll acquired the team's assets, briefly rebranding it as Racing Point before the official transition to Aston Martin in 2021. The 2021 rebrand marked the first time the Aston Martin name appeared on a Formula One grid as a constructor since 1960. This new era brought a massive injection of capital, leading to the construction of the 400,000-square-foot AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone. The team initially utilized customer Mercedes power units while rapidly expanding its technical department and manufacturing capabilities to move toward becoming a fully independent 'works' team. Under Stroll's leadership, the team has focused on aggressive talent recruitment, signing multi-time world champions Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. The organization reached a significant milestone in 2023 by opening the first phase of its state-of-the-art factory, which includes one of the most advanced wind tunnels in the sport. This infrastructure is designed to facilitate the team's long-term goal of championship contention. As part of its strategic growth, the team entered into a 'works' partnership with Honda for power unit supply starting in 2026. The 2024 signing of legendary designer Adrian Newey as Managing Technical Partner further underscored the team's ambition. Today, the organization operates as a high-technology engineering hub, integrating luxury brand marketing with the relentless technical demands of modern Grand Prix racing.
