Overview
Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA is a professional endurance racing team competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) as the official factory-supported entry for Cadillac Racing. Starting in 2025, the team operates two Cadillac V-Series.R Hypercars in a pursuit of overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the WEC title. The organization is a partnership between the legendary British racing outfit JOTA Sport and the global car rental giant Hertz.
History
JOTA Sport was founded in 2000 by Sam Hignett and John Stack, originally starting as a grassroots project to compete in endurance races like the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. The team quickly progressed through the ranks of GT and sports car racing, moving into the prototype category in 2004 with a Zytek LMP1 car. Over the next decade, JOTA established itself as a premier force in the LMP2 class, securing multiple class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2014, 2017, and 2022) and multiple titles in the European Le Mans Series and the FIA World Endurance Championship. In 2023, JOTA made a historic leap into the top-tier Hypercar class of the WEC as a privateer entrant. Running the Porsche 963 under the 'Hertz Team JOTA' banner with backing from Hertz, Brady Brand, and Singer, the team achieved unparalleled success for an independent squad. A landmark moment occurred at the 2024 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, where JOTA became the first privateer team in the Hypercar era to win a WEC race outright, defeating factory efforts from Porsche, Ferrari, and Toyota. Following their impressive performance as a privateer, General Motors announced in late 2024 that JOTA Sport would take over the official factory WEC program for Cadillac starting in the 2025 season. This transition ended Cadillac's previous partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing in the WEC and saw JOTA expand into a full two-car factory operation. This move significantly elevated the team's status, granting them direct access to Cadillac's engineering resources and the proprietary 5.5L naturally aspirated V8 powertrain. Today, Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA represents the spearhead of General Motors' global endurance racing ambitions. The team continues to operate out of its state-of-the-art facility in Kent, England, while collaborating closely with Cadillac's design team in Michigan and chassis partner Dallara in Italy. Their current mission focuses on integrating the LMDh-spec Cadillac V-Series.R platform with JOTA's proven operational excellence to secure world championship titles.
