Overview

CALLUM is a British design and engineering business that creates bespoke luxury vehicles and high-end lifestyle products. Founded by renowned automotive designer Ian Callum, the company focuses on limited-edition automotive commissions, restomod engineering, and the development of innovative electric vehicle platforms.

History

Founded in 2019, CALLUM was established in Warwick, UK, by Ian Callum, David Fairbairn, Adam Donfrancesco, and Tim Bird. Ian Callum, previously the Director of Design at Jaguar Land Rover, aimed to create a boutique design-led engineering house capable of executing niche projects that mainstream OEMs could not accommodate. The company's debut project was the Aston Martin Vanquish 25 by CALLUM, a comprehensive re-engineering of the classic grand tourer that introduced over 350 design and performance improvements, limited to just 25 units. In the years following its launch, CALLUM expanded its capabilities beyond automotive styling into full-scale engineering and prototyping. The firm established a dedicated 20,000-square-foot facility in Warwick, housing design studios and assembly workshops. They diversified their portfolio by collaborating with luxury brands across various sectors, including spirits and furniture, while maintaining a core focus on automotive innovation. By 2023, the company pivoted toward the future of mobility with the unveiling of the CALLUM SKYE, its first completely original vehicle. The SKYE is a high-performance, multi-terrain electric vehicle designed to bridge the gap between off-road capability and sports car performance. Through partnerships with battery technology firms like Nyobolt, CALLUM has positioned itself as a technical partner for advanced EV development. Today, CALLUM operates as both a design consultancy and a low-volume manufacturer. The company continues to push the boundaries of materials science and sustainable luxury, utilizing its agile structure to rapidly prototype and bring niche vehicle concepts to market for a global clientele of collectors and technology partners.
