Chery

Chery was founded in 1997 in Wuhu, Anhui Province, as a state-owned enterprise to stimulate the local economy. In its early years, the company focused on developing its own internal combustion engines and establishing a domestic manufacturing footprint, eventually becoming one of the first Chinese automakers to export vehicles to international markets. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Chery expanded its brand portfolio and technological capabilities, launching various sub-brands and entering into strategic joint ventures, most notably the 2012 partnership with Jaguar Land Rover to produce premium vehicles in China. The company has consistently prioritized independent innovation, securing thousands of patents and establishing global R&D centers. In recent years, Chery has undergone a significant transformation toward electrification, connectivity, and intelligent driving, branded under initiatives like 'Chery Lion.' Today, the company operates as a diversified global group with a massive international sales network, consistently ranking among China's top exporters and largest automotive groups by annual production volume.
