Overview
Exeed is a premium automotive brand established by Chery Automobile to compete in the luxury SUV and new energy vehicle markets. The brand emphasizes a fusion of European design aesthetics and engineering standards with advanced Chinese manufacturing and intelligent connectivity technologies.
History
Exeed was officially introduced by Chery Automobile in September 2017 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show. The brand was conceived as a high-end division to elevate Chery's market position, utilizing an international team of designers and engineers from prestigious firms like BMW and Jaguar Land Rover. The brand's first production model, the TXL mid-size SUV, debuted at Auto Shanghai and entered production in March 2019, followed quickly by the VX and LX models to establish a comprehensive SUV lineup. Initially targeting the Chinese domestic market, Exeed began an aggressive international expansion in 2020. It successfully entered the Russian market, where it was named 'Breakthrough of the Year,' and subsequently expanded into the Middle East, South America, and Central Asia. The brand leverages Chery's global R&D capabilities, including a dedicated European R&D center in Munich, Germany, to adapt its vehicles for international markets. In recent years, Exeed has pivoted toward electrification with the launch of the 'Exlantix' (known as Sterra in China) series. This includes high-performance electric sedans and SUVs featuring 800V architecture and advanced autonomous driving capabilities. By 2023, the brand had reached a delivery milestone of 30,000 units, signaling its transition into a global premium electric vehicle competitor.
