Overview

Iron Lynx (Iron Lynx Motorsport Lab) is an Italian motorsport organization and professional racing team rather than a commercial production vehicle OEM. Founded by Deborah Mayer, Claudio Schiavoni, Sergio Pianezzola, and Andrea Piccini, the team operates top-tier GT, endurance, and prototype racing programs in championships like FIA WEC, IMSA, and ELMS, serving as an operational partner for major automotive manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-AMG.

History

Iron Lynx was established in 2017 in Cesena, Italy, by Andrea Piccini, Deborah Mayer, Claudio Schiavoni, and Sergio Pianezzola as a comprehensive 'Motorsport Lab.' The outfit was conceived not merely as a racing team, but as a multidisciplinary platform integrating competition, driver development academies, event operations, and gentleman driver support. Soon after, it became the foundation for the Iron Dames initiative, led by Deborah Mayer to promote and develop female talent in international motorsport. In its early years, Iron Lynx aligned closely with Ferrari machinery, quickly making a mark in GT and single-seater development. Between 2019 and 2021, the team achieved dominant success in the Ferrari Challenge, Michelin Le Mans Cup, and European Le Mans Series (ELMS), highlighted by an overall victory at the 2021 24 Hours of Spa and class podiums at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This rapid ascent solidified its reputation as one of Europe's premier sports car racing teams. In late 2022, Iron Lynx announced a major manufacturer partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The team oversaw Lamborghini's flagship factory LMDh prototype program with the SC63 in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (Hypercar class) and IMSA SportsCar Championship (GTP class) through 2023 and 2024, in addition to running Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 campaigns. Following the conclusion of that partnership, Iron Lynx joined forces with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport for the 2025 racing season to field Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 cars in FIA WEC and ELMS, bringing the Silver Arrows brand back to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
