Overview

Jaguar TCS Racing is the factory motorsport division of Jaguar Land Rover, specifically focused on the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The team serves as a high-performance testbed for electric vehicle (EV) technology, aiming to transfer efficiency and software learnings from the track to future Jaguar road vehicles.

History

Jaguar announced its return to international racing in December 2015, joining the FIA Formula E Championship for its third season (2016/17). This marked the brand's first major motorsport program since its exit from Formula 1 in 2004. Initially partnering with Williams Advanced Engineering for technical support, the team launched the I-TYPE 1, establishing a long-term commitment to electrification under the 'Race to Innovate' mission. Over the following seasons, the team steadily climbed the rankings, achieving its first victory in the 2019 Rome E-Prix with driver Mitch Evans. The introduction of the Gen2 car allowed Jaguar to showcase significant improvements in powertrain density and energy management. In 2021, the team entered a long-term title partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), rebranding as Jaguar TCS Racing and deepening the integration of data science and software optimization into their race operations. The Gen3 era, which began in 2023, saw Jaguar become a powertrain manufacturer for other teams, specifically Envision Racing, proving the competitiveness of their hardware. This period has been the most successful in the team's history, characterized by consistent podium finishes and a sophisticated technical approach to Silicon Carbide (SiC) inverter technology. In 2024, Jaguar TCS Racing achieved its ultimate goal by winning the ABB FIA Formula E Teams' World Championship. This milestone validated the team’s engineering prowess and served as a marketing pillar for Jaguar's transition to a fully electric luxury brand. The team remains headquartered in the UK, operating as a core pillar of JLR's 'Reimagine' strategy.
