Overview
Manifattura Automobili Torino (M.A.T.) is a boutique automotive manufacturer and engineering firm based in Italy that specializes in the design, development, and production of one-off vehicles and limited-series high-performance cars. The company partners with OEMs and private clients to transform ambitious concepts into road-ready vehicles, blending traditional Italian coachbuilding spirit with modern engineering.
History
Manifattura Automobili Torino was founded in 2014 by Paolo Garella, an engineer with extensive experience in the automotive industry, including significant roles at Pininfarina where he led prototype engineering and manufacturing. Garella established M.A.T. to address the growing demand for bespoke automotive projects, leveraging his expertise in managing complex, high-end vehicle programs. In its early years, the company quickly gained recognition for its involvement in high-profile special projects, including the development and manufacturing of the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003, the Apollo Intensa Emozione, and the Devel Sixteen. These projects established M.A.T.'s reputation as a flexible, high-capability partner for niche automotive development. In 2018, the company launched the production of the New Stratos, a limited-series vehicle that garnered significant international attention at the Geneva Motor Show. Following this success, M.A.T. expanded its focus toward electric vehicle development, notably partnering with Aspark for the development and manufacturing of the Aspark Owl hypercar. Today, the company continues to operate as a specialized manufacturer, maintaining a team of over 50 professionals in Rivalta di Torino.
