Overview
Nilu27 is an ultra-exclusive hypercar manufacturer dedicated to creating "analog" performance vehicles that prioritize mechanical engagement and raw driving dynamics. Founded by renowned automotive designer Sasha Selipanov, the brand focuses on high-revving naturally aspirated engines, manual transmissions, and a total absence of digital interfaces in the cockpit.
History
Nilu27 was officially launched in 2024 by Sasha Selipanov, a designer celebrated for his work at Bugatti, Koenigsegg, and Genesis. The company was born from Selipanov's desire to return to the roots of automotive excitement, moving away from the industry's trend toward electrification, heavy software integration, and autonomous driving aids. Based in Southern California, the startup operates as a boutique OEM catering to the world's most discerning collectors. In August 2024, Nilu27 made its public debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance with the reveal of its first model, the NILU. The prototype showcased a bespoke 6.5-liter V12 engine and a striking "hot V" exhaust configuration, immediately positioning the brand as a purist alternative to mainstream hypercar manufacturers. This debut solidified the company's reputation for blending avant-garde design with old-school mechanical engineering. To bring the ambitious NILU to life, the company established strategic technical partnerships with specialized firms across the globe. The powertrain was co-developed with Hartley Engines in New Zealand, while the transmission was sourced from CIMA. These collaborations allowed the small California-based team to achieve performance metrics comparable to established brands while maintaining a lean internal structure focused on design and final assembly. As of late 2024, Nilu27 is in the process of finalizing its production facilities. The company's immediate roadmap involves the production of 15 track-only "launch edition" units, which will be followed by a limited run of 54 road-legal versions. The brand intends to remain a low-volume manufacturer, ensuring that every vehicle produced is a bespoke piece of automotive art tailored to individual client specifications.
