Overview

Oilstain Lab is a Southern California-based boutique automotive manufacturer and design house focused on high-performance, ultra-lightweight sports cars. The firm specializes in creating vehicles that merge mid-century motorsport aesthetics with modern engineering, specifically targeting the

History

Oilstain Lab was founded by twin brothers Iliya and Nikita Bridan, who brought over a decade of experience from major automotive design studios including Acura, Cadillac, Honda, Genesis, and Toyota. The studio was established to move away from the constraints of mass-market manufacturing and focus on 'visceral' automotive experiences. They first gained global attention with the 'Half-11' project, a bespoke prototype that reimagined the Porsche 911 as a mid-engine 1960s-style racing machine, featuring a custom chassis and a mid-mounted V8 engine. Following the viral success of the Half-11, the company spent several years refining its engineering capabilities and expanding its design language. The studio operates as a 'lab,' emphasizing experimental builds that challenge traditional proportions and mechanical layouts. Their work is characterized by an obsession with weight reduction and mechanical transparency, often leaving engineering elements exposed as part of the design. In 2024, Oilstain Lab announced its transition into low-volume production with the HF-11. This model represents their first homologated production vehicle, featuring a bespoke carbon-fiber monocoque and the option of a high-revving flat-six engine or an all-electric powertrain. The company currently operates out of a specialized facility in Signal Hill, California, where they manage design, prototyping, and final assembly for their limited-run commissions.
