Overview
Spania GTA is a Spanish boutique automotive manufacturer specializing in the design and production of high-performance hypercars. The company is best known for the GTA Spano, a limited-production vehicle that integrates advanced aerospace materials and proprietary engineering to compete in the global luxury sports car market.
History
Founded in 1994 by Domingo Ochoa as GTA Motor Competición, the company initially focused on motorsport, participating in various European racing series. This racing heritage provided the technical foundation for their transition into road car manufacturing. In 2005, the company was renamed Spania GTA to reflect its new focus on developing a proprietary supercar. The development of their flagship model, the GTA Spano, was conducted entirely in-house in Valencia. The first prototype was presented in 2009, followed by the production version's debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013. The vehicle gained international recognition for its performance figures and its appearance in popular media, including the 'Need for Speed' film and various racing video games. In recent years, Spania GTA has focused on evolving the Spano platform, introducing a second generation with increased power and refined aerodynamics. The company also entered a strategic partnership with Karma Automotive to provide special edition upgrades and explore electrification. Despite its niche status, Spania GTA remains a significant representative of Spanish automotive engineering in the hypercar segment.
