Overview

Tuthill Porsche (now commonly branded as Tuthill) is a renowned British specialist automotive engineering company focused on bespoke Porsche restorations, historic motorsport builds, and custom low-volume restomods. Operating out of Oxfordshire, the company is globally recognised for constructing championship-winning Safari rally 911s as well as high-performance road and track specials. It occupies an elite niche alongside marquee Porsche builders, balancing historic endurance rallying pedigree with modern composite manufacturing.

History

The roots of Tuthill date back over 50 years to founder Francis Tuthill, who started in rally vehicle fabrication and repair, notably repairing damaged Volkswagen Beetles and early rally machinery. By the late 1970s and 1980s, the workshop developed close ties with factory-supported operations, fabricating bodyshells and preparing rally cars for major campaigns, including work linked to the famous Rothmans Porsche rally team. Francis Tuthill cemented the brand's international rallying reputation with historic endurance victories, including outright victory at the 1993 London-Sydney Marathon in a Porsche 911. Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, Tuthill established a dominant presence in long-distance endurance events, becoming synonymous with the East African Safari Classic Rally, an event in which Tuthill-prepared Porsche 911s have claimed multiple outright victories across several decades. Under the continued leadership of Richard Tuthill, the company expanded beyond rally prep into modern GT competition and bespoke coachbuilding. In the 2010s, Tuthill developed the Porsche 997 GT3 R-GT, winning the inaugural FIA R-GT Cup in 2015 and proving the platform's versatility across tarmac rally stages. Concurrently, they co-founded and built cars for the prestigious Peter Auto 2.0 Litre Cup for early short-wheelbase 911s. In recent years, Tuthill evolved into an ultra-exclusive restomod and coachbuilt supercar manufacturer. Milestones include the ultra-lightweight 911K project, high-performance SCRS tribute builds, and the 2024 debut of the GT One—a road-legal, carbon-fibre tribute to 1990s GT1 racing limited to 22 units—solidifying Tuthill's position among the upper echelon of world-class bespoke automotive artisans.
