Overview
Voyah is a premium electric vehicle brand and subsidiary of the Chinese state-owned automaker Dongfeng Motor Corporation. The company focuses on developing high-end smart electric and range-extended vehicles, including SUVs, MPVs, and sedans, targeting both domestic and international markets.
History
Voyah's origins trace back to 2019 when Dongfeng Motor Corporation established a secret internal project, often referred to as the 'h-department,' to explore the development of premium, autonomous, and new energy vehicles. The brand was officially introduced to the public in July 2020 at the Big House Contemporary Art Center in Wuhan, followed by its formal launch at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show alongside the i-Free and i-Land concept vehicles. In 2021, Voyah transitioned from a development project to a commercial entity, with the Voyah Free SUV marking its entry into the premium market. The company has since expanded its portfolio to include the Dreamer MPV and the Passion sedan, leveraging Dongfeng's extensive manufacturing infrastructure and the Essa electric platform. The brand has focused on breaking institutional barriers typical of state-owned enterprises to compete in the high-end EV segment. By 2025, Voyah had achieved significant growth, reporting over 150,000 annual sales in China and reaching a cumulative production milestone of over 300,000 units. The company has aggressively pursued global expansion, entering markets in Europe, the Middle East, and other regions. In 2026, the company further solidified its market position by listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and forming strategic technology partnerships, including collaborations with Huawei to enhance its intelligent driving capabilities.
