Overview

Xiaomi Auto is a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer and a subsidiary of the consumer electronics giant Xiaomi. The company focuses on integrating smart technology, IoT connectivity, and AI into high-performance electric vehicles to create a seamless ecosystem for users.

History

Xiaomi Auto was founded in 2021 by Xiaomi chairman Lei Jun, marking the tech giant's strategic entry into the automotive sector. The company leveraged Xiaomi's extensive experience in consumer electronics, software development, and smart manufacturing to rapidly develop its first vehicle. By pouring billions into R&D, the company aimed to disrupt the EV market with a focus on intelligent cockpits and autonomous driving capabilities. The company unveiled its first production model, the SU7 sedan, in March 2024. Following its launch, Xiaomi Auto experienced rapid growth, scaling production through its Beijing-based manufacturing facilities. The company quickly expanded its portfolio, introducing the YU7 electric crossover in 2025 to compete in the high-volume SUV segment. As of late 2025, Xiaomi Auto has achieved significant production milestones, including reaching 500,000 total vehicles produced. The company continues to scale its manufacturing capacity through new factory phases in Beijing and Wuhan, with ambitious targets to reach over one million units in cumulative production by the end of 2026.
