Overview
Adamastor is a boutique Portuguese supercar manufacturer and engineering consultancy based in Perafita. The company specializes in low-volume, high-performance vehicles and provides advanced engineering services, specifically in composite materials and aerodynamics, to the global automotive industry.
History
Adamastor was founded in 2015 by Ricardo Quintas and Nuno Faria with the ambition of creating a 100% Portuguese high-performance automotive brand. Initially envisioned as a bridge between academic research and industrial application, the company spent its early years developing technological partnerships and prototyping lightweight vehicle concepts. In 2019, the brand underwent a significant strategic pivot, focusing on the development of a flagship supercar and establishing Adamastor Advanced Technologies to offer engineering consultancy in CNC machining and carbon fiber production. Following the 2019 repositioning, the engineering team dedicated several years to aerodynamic simulation and composite research. During this period, the company secured certification from the Portuguese National Innovation Agency (ANI) for its R&D capabilities, distinguishing itself as a technical hub in the national automotive cluster. They developed a proprietary carbon-fiber monocoque and specialized in the Venturi effect to optimize ground-effect aerodynamics for their upcoming model. In May 2024, Adamastor officially unveiled its first production-ready vehicle, the Furia. Positioned as a direct competitor to established ultra-exclusive supercar brands, the Furia features a full carbon-fiber construction and a Ford Performance powertrain. The car is offered in both road-legal and track-only configurations, marking Portugal's entry into the high-end supercar manufacturing segment. Today, the company operates from a dedicated 2,225-square-meter facility in Perafita, with plans to expand to 6,000 square meters. The brand's business model combines the sale of ultra-limited vehicle series (capped at 60 units) with high-value engineering contracts for external automotive and energy sector clients. Adamastor remains a small, highly specialized team focused on achieving racing success in the GT category and eventually the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
