Overview

BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) is a boutique British manufacturer specializing in the Mono, a road-legal, high-performance single-seater supercar. The company focuses on extreme lightweight engineering, bespoke driver-centric design, and pioneering material science to deliver a pure driving experience.

History

BAC was founded in 2009 by brothers Neill and Ian Briggs in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Combining backgrounds in automotive engineering and design from major OEMs like Bentley and Ford, the brothers aimed to create a vehicle that offered the performance and feel of a formula racing car while remaining fully road-legal. The company debuted its flagship vehicle, the BAC Mono, in 2011 to immediate international acclaim for its unique central-driving position and exceptional power-to-weight ratio. In 2013, the company relocated to a larger manufacturing facility in Speke, Liverpool, to facilitate increased production and global exports. Throughout its history, BAC has differentiated itself through innovation in materials, becoming the first automotive manufacturer to utilize graphene in production body panels in 2016. This was followed by the integration of 3D-printed components and niobium-enhanced steel to further reduce vehicle mass. In 2019, BAC launched the Mono R, a more powerful and lighter version of the original platform, featuring revised aerodynamics and a higher-output engine. The company has successfully established a global dealer network across North America, Asia, and Europe while maintaining its status as an independent, low-volume specialist. In 2023, BAC introduced a new generation of the naturally aspirated Mono, continuing its commitment to analog driving dynamics and extreme personalization.
