Overview
Automobili Estrema is an Italian boutique manufacturer of high-performance electric hypercars based in the Motor Valley region. The company focuses on integrating cutting-edge battery technology, specifically solid-state cells and ultracapacitors, into ultra-exclusive, limited-production vehicles.
History
Automobili Estrema was founded in 2020 by Gianfranco Pizzuto, a veteran of the electric vehicle industry and an early investor and distributor for Fisker Automotive. Based in Modena, Italy, the company set out to bridge the gap between traditional Italian coachbuilding craftsmanship and next-generation electric propulsion systems. The company's flagship project, the Fulminea, was officially unveiled in May 2021 at the National Automobile Museum in Turin. It was presented as a fully electric hypercar intended to deliver 2,040 horsepower (1.5 MW). A key differentiator for Estrema is its "hybrid" energy storage system, developed to optimize power density and weight saving. Throughout 2022 and 2023, the company focused on engineering development and securing the supply chain for its complex battery architecture. Estrema has utilized crowdfunding campaigns and private investment rounds to finance the transition from prototype to low-volume production. The company targets a total production run of just 61 units for the Fulminea model.
