Overview

JAC Motors (Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group) is a Chinese state-owned automotive manufacturer that produces a comprehensive range of commercial and passenger vehicles. The company is a significant player in the global market, integrating R&D, manufacturing, and sales with a growing focus on new energy vehicles and intelligent technology.

History

Founded in 1964 as the Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory, the company initially specialized in the production of commercial vehicle chassis and light trucks. Throughout the late 20th century, it expanded its capabilities, becoming a key supplier of truck components and eventually launching its own full-range commercial vehicle lineup, including heavy-duty trucks in the early 2000s. In the 2000s and 2010s, JAC Motors diversified into the passenger vehicle market, introducing a variety of sedans, SUVs, and MPVs under brands like Refine and Heyue. This period marked the company's transition from a commercial specialist to a comprehensive automotive group with a global footprint, establishing assembly plants and dealerships across multiple continents. In recent years, JAC has pivoted heavily toward electrification and smart mobility. This shift has been defined by high-profile strategic partnerships, most notably a joint venture with Volkswagen Group focused on electric vehicles and a manufacturing agreement with NIO to produce high-end electric SUVs. Today, JAC Motors is recognized as a top Chinese exporter, particularly in the light truck segment, and continues to expand its 'new energy' portfolio.
