Overview

Longbow is a British automotive manufacturer specializing in high-performance "Featherweight Electric Vehicles" (FEVs). The company focuses on driver-centric, ultra-lightweight sports cars that utilize bespoke electric platforms to achieve curb weights comparable to internal combustion icons, positioning itself as a niche leader in the lightweight EV market.

History

Longbow was founded in 2023 by Daniel Davey and Mark Tapscott, both of whom brought extensive experience from senior roles at Tesla and Lucid Motors. The founders' vision was to address the increasing weight of modern electric vehicles by applying "featherweight" engineering principles to a dedicated sports car architecture. In 2025, the leadership team was strengthened by the arrival of Jenny Keisu, the former CEO of electric marine manufacturer X Shore. The company emerged from stealth in late 2025 with the unveiling of its first two models, the Speedster and the Roadster. These vehicles were designed to be spiritual successors to classic British sports cars like the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type, emphasizing agility and tactile feedback. By early 2026, the company established its headquarters in London and began preparing for the hand-built production of its first limited-run series. As of April 2026, Longbow has moved into the production phase for its "Luminary" and "Autograph" launch editions. The brand has successfully created a new automotive category, FEV (Featherweight Electric Vehicle), and continues to leverage the UK's "Motorsport Valley" supply chain to refine its bespoke aluminium chassis and high-efficiency electric drivetrains.
