Overview

Overfinch is a premier British coachbuilder and automotive tuning house that specializes in the bespoke enhancement of Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles. Since its inception, the brand has focused on providing exclusive aesthetic, interior, and performance upgrades, positioning itself as a luxury leader for high-net-worth individuals seeking individualized SUVs.

History

Founded in 1975 in Farnham, Surrey, the company originally operated under the name Schuler. In its early years, Schuler focused on rectifying the performance and handling limitations of the original Range Rover Classic, famously introducing a refined Chrysler-sourced automatic gearbox and improved transfer cases long before the factory offered such luxuries. By the mid-1980s, the company rebranded as Overfinch to reflect its evolution into a comprehensive vehicle enhancer. This period was marked by the introduction of the 570Ti, which utilized a Chevrolet small-block V8 engine to provide performance that rivaled contemporary sports cars. This era established Overfinch as the pioneer of the high-performance luxury SUV segment. The company underwent significant corporate restructuring in the 2010s after entering administration in 2010. It was subsequently acquired by new investors who consolidated production and moved operations to Leeds. Under new leadership, the brand shifted its focus toward advanced carbon fiber manufacturing and ultra-luxury bespoke commissions, expanding its reach into markets like North America and the Middle East. In recent years, Overfinch has diversified its portfolio by launching the 'Heritage' division, dedicated to the ground-up restoration and modernization of classic Land Rover Defenders and Range Rover Classics. Today, the brand remains a boutique operation, maintaining a flagship showroom in London's St. Johns Wood and a global distribution network.
