Overview

Vanderhall Motor Works is an American manufacturer specializing in handcrafted three-wheeled autocycles and electric off-road utility vehicles. The company focuses on a niche market that blends luxury appointments with high-performance open-air driving experiences.

History

Vanderhall Motor Works was founded in 2010 in Provo, Utah, by Steve Hall, a former CAD designer and exotic car dealer with a passion for vehicle design. Hall spent five years developing prototypes, experimenting with various engine types and chassis materials to balance performance and stability. The company eventually transitioned from early steel chassis designs to the lightweight aluminum monocoque structures that characterize their current production vehicles. The company launched its first production vehicle, the Laguna, in 2015, which was a hand-built three-wheeled autocycle. This was followed by the Venice in 2017, a more affordable model that helped the brand gain wider recognition in the powersports market. In 2020, the Carmel was introduced, offering additional luxury features and doors, further refining the brand's "autocycle" concept. In recent years, Vanderhall has aggressively pivoted toward electrification, starting with the Edison² electric roadster. The company expanded its focus beyond three-wheelers with the introduction of the Brawley (originally teased as the Navarro), an all-electric four-wheel off-road vehicle designed for high-performance utility. This shift reflects a broader strategy to compete in the growing electric powersports and UTV sectors. Vanderhall has also explored public markets, announcing a confidential submission for a proposed public listing in late 2021. The company continues to innovate within its niche, recently unveiling the limited Santarosa Launch Edition at Pebble Beach to showcase its high-end electric capabilities. Today, it remains a prominent American boutique OEM operating out of its facilities in Utah. The company maintains a focus on handcrafted quality, utilizing a vertically integrated approach to design and assembly in its Provo headquarters.
