Aniline/Semi-Aniline Leather
Premium bovine leather dyed with soluble dyes to preserve the natural grain and surface characteristics of the hide.
Overview
Aniline leather is the highest quality of leather, featuring a surface that is not covered by a topcoat of pigment or chemicals, allowing the natural grain to remain visible and breathable. Semi-aniline leather is similar but includes a very thin protective coating or light pigment to increase durability and lightfastness while maintaining a soft, natural feel. In the automotive industry, these materials are utilized primarily in luxury and ultra-luxury vehicle interiors for seating and trim. They offer superior comfort and aesthetic appeal compared to corrected-grain or heavily pigmented leathers.

Sustainability
Sustainability Rating
Leather is a biological byproduct of the food industry, but the tanning process is resource-intensive in terms of water and chemical use. While biodegradable, the chrome-tanning common in automotive grades complicates end-of-life processing.
