Overview
Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV) is the bespoke, ultra-limited division of the Gordon Murray Group, operating alongside Gordon Murray Automotive (T.50 / T.33 family). Launched at The Quail during Monterey Car Week 2025, GMSV handles special commissions, one-offs and small-run models that take Gordon Murray’s lightweight, naturally aspirated V12 and manual-gearbox philosophy to its most extreme expression. Current programmes: the five-car S1 LM (bespoke 4.3-litre V12, 720 PS), the 24-unit Le Mans GTR longtail (4.0-litre Cosworth GMA V12, 986 kg dry) and the 64-unit S1 touring supercar revealed in August 2026 (4.2-litre Cosworth V12, up to 690 PS, six-speed manual). The company states every programme announced to date is fully sold out.
History
GMSV was unveiled in August 2025 at The Quail, Monterey Car Week, as a spin-off from Gordon Murray Automotive focused on small-run and custom designs, special commissions and history-inspired builds. Its first two projects were both Le Mans-inspired: the S1 LM, a customer-commissioned five-car homage to the McLaren F1 GTR that won the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours, using a bored-out 4.3-litre version of the T.50 V12; and the Le Mans GTR, a 24-unit longtail using the GMA V12 and six-speed manual, reported sold at launch. All five S1 LMs were bought by a single collector; in November 2025 chassis 1 sold at RM Sotheby’s Las Vegas for $20.63 million, a record for a new car at auction (excluding charity sales). The Le Mans GTR returned as experimental prototype ‘XP1’, running at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Le Mans Classic in July 2026. On 14 August 2026 GMSV revealed the S1 at The Quail: a touring-focused evolution of the S1 LM platform with all-new body panels, integrated active rear aero, a bespoke 4.2-litre naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 and six-speed manual, limited to 64 individually commissioned cars.
