Overview
VUHL (Vehicles of Ultra-lightweight and High Performance) is a Mexican automotive manufacturer specializing in high-performance, road-legal lightweight supercars. The company focuses on track-oriented engineering and advanced materials to achieve exceptional power-to-weight ratios, positioning itself in the niche boutique sports car market.
History
VUHL was founded in 2010 by brothers Guillermo and Iker Echeverría in Querétaro, Mexico. The brothers, sons of professional racer Guillermo Echeverría Sr., combined their background in industrial design and racing heritage to create the brand under their parent engineering company, ETXE Diseño. The company's name is an acronym for "Vehicles of Ultra-lightweight and High Performance," reflecting their core engineering philosophy of minimizing mass to maximize performance. The brand gained international prominence with the global debut of its first production model, the VUHL 05, at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This was followed by the introduction of the more powerful 05RR variant in 2016 and the 05 ROC edition, which was featured in the Race of Champions. The company has since expanded its presence into the UK and US markets through specialized dealer networks, including partnerships in California and Texas. VUHL remains a privately owned, independent OEM that emphasizes its Mexican identity while collaborating with international technical partners. The company continues to refine its platform, reporting hundreds of incremental improvements to the 05 chassis since its inception. Production is centered in a dedicated facility within the Aerotech Industrial Park in Querétaro, Mexico.
