Overview
W Motors is a United Arab Emirates-based automotive company specializing in the design and manufacturing of high-performance luxury hypercars and advanced security vehicles. Established as the first manufacturer of luxury sports cars in the Middle East, the firm focuses on blending extreme performance with ultra-exclusive craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.
History
W Motors was founded in July 2012 by Ralph R. Debbas in Beirut, Lebanon, marking the birth of the Middle East's first developer of high-performance luxury sports cars. Shortly after its inception, the company relocated its headquarters to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to tap into the region's luxury market and strategic location. The brand gained international fame in 2013 with the unveiling of the Lykan HyperSport at the Qatar Motor Show, a car that would later feature prominently in the Hollywood blockbuster 'Furious 7'. To bring its ambitious designs to life, W Motors formed strategic partnerships with established European automotive names, including Magna Steyr and RUF Automobile. These collaborations provided the engineering rigour and powertrain expertise needed for the Lykan's flat-six twin-turbo engine. Following the success of the Lykan, the company introduced the Fenyr SuperSport, designed for slightly higher production volumes while maintaining extreme performance benchmarks. In recent years, W Motors has diversified its portfolio beyond hypercars. The company launched the 'Ghiath' Smart Patrol vehicle, developed for the Dubai Police, which has become a core part of its production activities at its Dubai-based facility. This shift reflects an expansion into the security and defense sectors, leveraging their design capabilities for specialized utility. Today, W Motors is focused on finalizing its state-of-the-art automotive facility in Dubai Silicon Oasis. This hub is intended to handle design, R&D, and manufacturing, including the development of electric and autonomous vehicle technologies like the MUSE autonomous pod. The company continues to position itself as a pioneer of the Arab world's automotive industry, bridging the gap between bespoke luxury and regional manufacturing.
