Cyanate Ester / BMI Resins
High-Tg cyanate-ester and bismaleimide matrices for motorsport prepreg, distinct from epoxy.
Overview
Cyanate-ester and bismaleimide (BMI) resins are the high-glass-transition thermoset matrices used when epoxy would soften in motorsport and aerospace-crossover composites. They are specified as prepreg resins, infusion systems and adhesive films for carbon and hybrid laminates that sit near exhausts, brakes or high-temperature body structure. The library already has epoxy (including crash-durable epoxy) and polyester/vinyl-ester. This page is the higher-Tg family: cyanate esters for dimensional stability and low moisture uptake, and BMIs where even higher service temperature is needed. Cure cycles are hotter and longer than typical automotive epoxy. Typical buyable forms are prepreg, film adhesive and liquid resin. They are not a fibre and not a finished composite panel.
