FKM (Fluoroelastomer)
High-temperature fluoroelastomer for turbo, oil and EV thermal seals.
Overview
FKM fluoroelastomers (the Viton-class family) are high-temperature, fuel- and oil-resistant seals used around turbochargers, exhaust-adjacent joints and, increasingly, EV thermal-management loops where coolant and dielectric-fluid resistance at temperature is required. They sit well above silicone rubber for hydrocarbon resistance and well above NBR for heat. This is not a generic Rubber page and not silicone: FKM is a fluorinated carbon-chain elastomer specified for the hottest, most chemically aggressive sealing duties. Typical forms are moulded O-rings, shaft seals and a smaller volume of hose and gaskets. Cost is high relative to EPDM or NBR, so use is targeted rather than body-wide.
