NBR / HNBR
Nitrile and hydrogenated nitrile elastomers for fuel, oil and powertrain hoses and seals.
Overview
Nitrile rubber (NBR) and its hydrogenated grade (HNBR) are the workhorse elastomers for fuel, oil and powertrain fluid contact. Acrylonitrile content sets the oil swell; HNBR adds heat and ozone resistance for under-bonnet and transmission duty. This listing is distinct from generic Rubber and from EPDM weatherseals. NBR is chosen where hydrocarbon resistance matters — fuel-filler hose, oil-cooler lines, crankshaft seals, O-rings and some hydraulic parts — not for exterior weatherstrips. HNBR is the upgrade where continuous temperature or ageing exceeds NBR. Both are moulded or extruded and vulcanised; they are not thermoplastic TPEs.
