Polyphthalamide (PPA)
High-temperature polyamide for e-motor cooling circuits and connectors, distinct from PA6/66, PPS and PEEK.
Overview
Polyphthalamide (PPA) is a semi-aromatic polyamide used where PA6/PA66 run out of temperature or hydrolysis resistance — e-motor cooling circuits, high-temperature connectors, thermostat housings and charge-air parts. Glass- or mineral-filled grades are the automotive default. PPS, PEEK and unfilled or glass-filled PA6/66 sit elsewhere in the library. PPA sits between PA66 and PPS on temperature, with better toughness than many PPS grades and lower cost than PEEK. Water uptake is lower than PA66 but still needs design allowance. Typical processing is injection moulding. It is specified as a high-temp polyamide family, not a single OEM grade.
