PPS
High-temperature polyphenylene sulphide for under-bonnet parts and e-motor insulation.
Overview
Polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) is a high-temperature engineering thermoplastic used for under-bonnet parts, e-motor slot insulation, pump housings and connectors that see fuels, oils and continuous heat beyond nylon. It is named inside the Advanced Thermoplastic Resins umbrella but is a distinct buyable polymer, usually glass-filled for dimensional stability. This is not PEEK, not nylon, and not a thermoset. PPS is injection-moulded, inherently flame-resistant and chemically inert in most automotive fluids. It is recyclable as a thermoplastic when unfilled or glass-filled streams are kept separate.
