2K Clearcoat
Two-component automotive clearcoat — the gloss and UV top layer of the paint shop.
Overview
Two-component (2K) polyurethane or acrylic-urethane clearcoat is the final layer of the automotive paint shop — gloss, UV protection and etch resistance over basecoat. Every painted body and most painted bumpers run a 2K or related clear. E-coat and powder coatings exist in the library; colourcoat and clearcoat did not. This is the transparent topcoat, not a primer and not a powder. Applied by spray, then baked. The buyable material is the clearcoat resin system. It is not a structural polymer and is not recycled as a separate auto-part.
