Bentley Torcal unveiled in London: first all-electric Bentley becomes fourth model line, hand-built on a new Crewe line

Autotrayce EditorialWednesday 23 September 20267 min read

What launched

Bentley revealed the Torcal at its global debut in London on 23 September 2026. It is the brand’s first fully electric model and its fourth model line, alongside the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga, and Bentley describes it as its first all-new model in a decade. The name was announced on 6 July and comes from El Torcal de Antequera in Andalusia. The Torcal is a five-seat luxury SUV and launches in two versions: the core Torcal and the more sporting Torcal S. Bentley says it is designed, engineered and built in Crewe.

Autotrayce lists the Torcal as a series-production luxury model. Unlike the limited-run Bentley specials on the tracker, such as Bacalar and Batur, it is a core model line.

Key specifications (OEM)

  • Two permanent-magnet synchronous motors, one per axle (motor peak torque 430 Nm front, 1,098 Nm rear), with a single gear ratio, an open front differential and an electronically controlled locking rear differential
  • Torcal: 821 PS / 1,194 Nm, 0–60 mph in 3.3 s (0–100 km/h 3.4 s), top speed 155 mph. Torcal S: 888 PS / 1,350 Nm with Launch Control active, 0–60 mph in 2.8 s (0–100 km/h 2.9 s), top speed 162 mph
  • 800 V nominal; 192 lithium-ion pouch cells in series, in six 32-cell modules; 113.3 kWh total / 108.7 kWh usable (technical specification sheet); 10-year / 100,000-mile battery warranty
  • Range of up to 375 miles (600 km WLTP); DC charging from 10–80% in 16 minutes at 400 kW, or about 100 miles in seven minutes
  • Fully active suspension (Bentley Active Ride, a first for the brand) with no anti-roll bars; all-wheel steering as standard, up to 5° at the rear, for an 11.1 m turning circle
  • Iron brakes (420/370 mm) or optional carbon silicon carbide (440/410 mm), with 10-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers
  • 5,008 mm long, 2,025 mm wide (body), 1,677 mm tall, 3,023 mm wheelbase; Cd 0.262; 2,795 kg kerb weight (EU); 460-litre boot plus 90-litre front storage; 2,700 kg towing
  • Steel and aluminium monocoque with hot-formed steel front fenders, upper A-pillar, B-pillar and cantrail; aluminium bonnet; superformed aluminium tailgate outer

Data notes: Bentley’s own documents differ on several figures. The release body says 10–80% charging takes “just under 20 minutes”, while its headline bullets and the specification sheet say 16 minutes. The release gives “113 kWh net”, against the sheet’s 113.3 kWh total and 108.7 kWh usable. Bentley’s UK website lists core-model torque as 1,155 Nm, against 1,194 Nm in the release and sheet. Range is given as 375 miles / 600 km (release), 375 miles / 603 km (sheet) and 373 miles / 600 km (website). Bentley says EU consumption and range figures are pending type approval.

Manufacturing footprint

The Torcal will be built by hand on a new production line in Crewe, created inside one of the site’s original 1938 buildings, which first housed the machining shop and most recently Bentley’s R&D workshop. The building was stripped and fitted with a precisely level floor for the autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) that move cars around the facility during the build. Bentley says the capacity to build the Torcal is part of a self-funded investment of more than £350 million in Crewe, which also includes a new paint shop and a renewal programme across the site. More than 4,000 people work at Crewe.

Bentley’s releases do not name the underlying platform. In an interview with The Independent published on reveal day, Torcal Product Line Director Martin Page said: “We made use of the Porsche PPE 41 C platform.” He added that the hardware is shared within the Volkswagen Group but calibrated uniquely for Bentley in Crewe. Treat the platform as reported from an executive interview, not confirmed in a Bentley release.

“The Torcal is a Bentley first and foremost, created by hand by people who care, using the best available materials and technology to blend heritage with cutting-edge innovation. I believe this is one of the best Bentleys ever.” (Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Chairman and CEO, Bentley Motors, OEM statement)

Named suppliers and partners

Bentley says the Torcal is “supported by a network of suppliers from across the UK”. Its releases and specification sheet name these partners:

  • Fox Brothers (Somerset): the world’s first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric, developed with Bentley’s Colour, Materials and Finish team and the first automotive wool fabric certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). The release lists five wool colours; the specification sheet lists six
  • Naim: the optional Naim for Bentley audio system, with 1,780 W, 28 speakers, kinaesthetic seat shakers, front headrest speakers and Dolby Atmos (7.1 in the release, 7.1.4 on the sheet). The standard 620 W, 16-speaker system was developed in Bentley’s own audio lab
  • Dinamica (a brand of Italy’s Miko): microfibre in 15 shades matched to the leather palette
  • Pirelli: P Zero e summer tyres in 21-inch (275/45 R21 front, 315/40 R21 rear) and 22-inch (275/40 R22, 315/35 R22) sizes, plus 22-inch Scorpion M+S all-season tyres
  • Cumbria Crystal (Lake District): bespoke hand-cut crystal objects, photographed with light passing through them to create the interior display graphics (Bentley release, 27 July 2026)

The new Ombré Walnut veneer, made from up to 1,000 layers of walnut off-cuts and recycled paper, and the Sunburst Aluminium finish both come from Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke division.

Bentley has not named the battery cell supplier, the source of the e-motors, or the makers of the displays, wheels or leather.

Not yet published

  • Start of production: no date given
  • Volumes: no planned annual volume or line capacity given
  • Pricing: no official UK, EU or US price list in the launch materials
  • Deliveries: the release gives no timing. Martin Page told The Independent that customer cars are due “in Quarter Two next year”, which would be Q2 2027
  • Homologation: EU type-approved range and consumption figures are pending, and no US EPA range has been published

Procurement / BD takeaway

Bentley has built the Torcal’s supply-chain story around British craft suppliers. All of the external partners it names work in the cabin and its experience: wool textile, microfibre, audio, display graphics and tyres. On the propulsion and chassis side, Bentley names nobody. Given the Group platform cited by Martin Page and the absence of named propulsion suppliers, external opportunities in Crewe are more likely to sit in interior materials, trim and finishing, and in the equipment, logistics and paint-shop work within the £350m-plus site programme, than in drive units or the battery pack. As a series-production fourth model line, the Torcal will run at higher volumes than Bentley’s coachbuilt specials, though Bentley has not quantified them. Watch for the SOP date, the line’s capacity, confirmation of the cell and motor sources, and official pricing.
