Battery Separator (PE/PP)
Microporous PE/PP film that isolates electrodes in lithium-ion cells.
Overview
The battery separator is a microporous polyethylene or polypropylene film that electrically isolates cathode from anode while allowing ion transport in lithium-ion cells. It is a cell-construction material, not an electrode. The library has graphite anodes, LFP and NMC cathodes, and lithium — but not the separator. This is the PE/PP porous film, often ceramic-coated, not a structural plastic. Supplied as thin film on reels for cell assembly. Polyolefin chemistry is in principle recyclable; in practice it is recovered via cell recycling streams rather than as a separate auto-part.
