Scalmalloy-class AM Aluminium
Scandium-modified Al-Mg additive aluminium for motorsport and hypercar printed structures.
Overview
Scalmalloy-class alloys are aluminium-magnesium-scandium powders developed for additive manufacture, offering higher strength and better damage tolerance than standard AlSi10Mg in printed structural parts. They have become an established motorsport and hypercar additive material for uprights, brackets and topology-optimised nodes. The scandium addition refines grain structure in the as-built and heat-treated condition, which is why the class is specified when AlSi10Mg specific strength is not enough and titanium would add cost or mass. Powder handling, heat treatment and surface finishing follow aerospace-adjacent additive practice. This listing is the additive aluminium class, not a conventional 5xxx sheet and not an Al-Si casting alloy. Supply is specialised; it is not a high-volume body-in-white material.
