Ceramic Substrates (Alumina & Aluminium Nitride)
High-performance ceramic materials used as substrates for electronic components, power modules, and sensors in automotive powertrain and control systems.
Overview
Alumina (Al₂O₃) and aluminium nitride (AlN) are advanced technical ceramics used as substrates in automotive electronics and power systems. Alumina is widely used for its excellent electrical insulation, hardness, and cost-effectiveness in PCB substrates, spark plug insulators, and sensor housings. Aluminium nitride offers a significantly higher thermal conductivity (up to 170 W/m·K) while remaining electrically insulating — critical for power electronics substrate applications where efficient heat extraction from SiC or IGBT power modules is essential. In EV and hybrid applications, AlN substrates are key to the thermal management of inverters, DC/DC converters, and on-board chargers.
